Club History
The Colac Swimming Club INC has a long and proud history.
In the early days the Club was able to participate in swimming as well as diving competitions under the guidance of coach, Dr Bill Davies (Doc Davies) who was well versed in the art of diving. He was a member of the Victorian diving team and went on to be selected for the 1938 Commonwealth Games. The clubs’ annual championship is named in his honour.
In 2010 the Club celebrated its 50th anniversary. Since its inception in 1960, the club has had in excess of 1500 swimming (and diving) who have had many successful results at Country, State and National Championships. Some of those pivotal to the early success of the Club included, Albert Vesey, Noel King and Dr Bill Davies.
Life Members of the Club are Gladys and Glen Lister, Noel King and Pat and Don Sainter, Les Croft, George ’Uncle Fred’ and Joyce Finch, Rex Basham, Marcia Phillips, Doug Lucas, Alan Tanis, Robyn Forsyth, Deborah Legg (nee Sainter) and Beverly Vesey.
Deb Legg is still currently active in the Club as Head coach.

CLUB AIMS
The Colac Swimming Club INC aims to develop the best in each swimmer as well as provide the person with the required life skills. The Club promotes good sportsmanship and expects the same in return from its swimmers.
The Colac Swimming Club INC is a competitive club where coaches, swimmers and parents/guardians work in partnership, sustaining a culture of team work, commitment and excellence in which swimmers can develop to their full potential.
Foster development of our swimmers at a competitive level by offering them pathways through local, regional, state and national swim meets and championships.
Support swimmers by giving them recognition for their achievements in the pool through our Club newsletter and local newspaper.
